I never was a huge fan of the XDS especially in 45. It hurt my hand and kicked like a mule compared to the M&P Shield 45. With that said, the first handgun I ever purchased was a 4" service model XD9, and I EDC'd a XD Mod 2 in 9mm for some time. No complaints about either. Both have been 110% and the build quality was excellent for the price.The XDs in 45 ACP is a bit snappy. I do sometimes conceal my 3.3 inch Mod 2 45 ACP, but the XDs is easier to hide. While a XDs is very shootable and fun to shoot, I'd buy a 4 or 5 inch barreled Mod 2, if your primary purpose is shooting at a range.
